In second grade, we have grade level expectations that meet the Common Core Standards. In this class, we will learn Math, Science, and Social Studies. 

This year we will be using Eureka Math Modules to instruct students.  The total amount of tests given for Math will be six tests per nine weeks. A parent newsletter will be distributed to students every time a new topic is introduced.  The information on the newsletter will assist you when helping your child complete home learning assignments and preparing for tests.

Also, students will be given a homework/participation grade, in the subject of math, worth 10 percent of their final grade.  If the student completes their homework for the day they will receive 2 points, if only half is completed then he/she will only receive 1 point, and if they do not complete their homework they will not receive any points.  
 
NOTE:  Math tests will be cumulative. 

This year, science and social studies are separate letter grades.  We will rotate science and social studies after the unit is completed.  I will hand out study guides at the beginning of the week for the subject that we are on and a test will be given.  There will be a minimum of four grades for each subject per nine weeks.  At home projects will be given a week before it is due.
