In first grade, we have grade level expectations that meet the Louisiana Student Standards. I will be teaching the reading, grammar, spelling, and handwriting block to all the first graders.  Reading, grammar, spelling, and handwriting will be assessed weekly.  There will be at least eight tests in reading given to the students per nine weeks.  Tests will be comprised of subject matter discussed in class. Occasionally, projects will be assigned in the reading block. Students will be given at least a week to complete the projects. These projects will count as test grades. There will be a rubric given for students to follow for the projects.
